Like most website operators, Informed Opinions collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Informed Opinions’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Informed Opinions’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Informed Opinions may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Informed Opinions also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on our poll results. Informed Opinions only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under court order.

Informed Opinions collects statistics about the opinions of community members by polling them.  Those statistics are aggregated and may be made available in a variety of levels of granularity - all respondents, only males, only males of a certain age, only males of a certain age from a certain state, etc.  Individual personal information is never disclosed to any party outside of Informed Opinions, except under court order.
